Scheduling hospitalist blocks is complex. Automation helps but there are always 'edge cases' and sudden issues that pop up that may not be completely capable of being modelled for by even very thoughtfully designed solutions. There is a learning curve and lots of sunk time costs to consider. Choosing which platform to use is not a trivial matter. We have located ~ 15 software options on the web. Not surprisingly, they all review themselves as being suitable. We will only feature scheduling platforms Ontario hospitalists have used and are known to work, be reliable and reasonably cost-effective. In time we hope to add to this list and link in local hospitalists, expert in scheduling, who have experience with the pros and cons's of each platform to share tips amongst themselves and others.
